Spring All-day Sitting

Since so many people have told us that they will be away and/or holding family gatherings during the original dates for Spring Sesshin, April 13-16, which conflicts with Easter on April 16, we decided to replace it with an all-day sitting on Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This retreat will be led by Zen Center Abbot Shinge Sherry Chayat Roshi. Roshi will give a teisho and conduct dokusan during the retreat. Tibetan sitting has been cancelled for that day, and regular attendees who are in town are invited to join us for the all-day sitting.

Please note that this is not a beginners’ retreat; it takes the place of our spring sesshin, and anyone who has been sitting regularly at Hoen-ji for at least the past two months is welcome to attend. A brief orientation in the use of formal meal bowls, jihatsu, will be offered at 7:30 that morning.

Location: Zen Center of Syracuse, 266 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13207

Please register here by Wednesday, April 12. Cost is $75 (sliding scale option available:  Bring cash or check in the amount you can afford. Contact Jikyo bshoultz@syr.edu with questions) and includes lunch. You may pay after receiving your confirmation registration email, or securely online here with a credit card.
