Diamond Sutra: Study and Practice Weekend

The Vajracchedika Prajñaparamita Sutra (Diamond Sutra) is an early Mahayana “Perfection of Wisdom” text and is one of the most influential works in the Zen tradition. Join us for a weekend of study and practice, bringing scholarship and first-hand experience together. Eminent scholars Kendo Harold Roth (Brown University) and Victor Sogen Hori (McGill University) will be presenting, supported by Dokuro Osho, the abbot of Charles River Zen. The combination of long-term dedicated Zen practitioners with scholarly expertise holds the promise for a deep and meaningful connection between the text and our own experience. The schedule of the weekend includes formal practice and brings together study and practice. Formal Rinzai Zen practice comprising seated meditation (zazen), walking meditation (kinhin), and chanting services will complement the lectures and discussions on the Diamond Sutra. To learn more please view the pamphlet and sign-up at the Diamond Sutra Workshop site.

Dokuro Osho was a senior disciple of the late Joshu Sasaki Roshi, whose funeral Shinge Roshi attended in late August at Rinzai-ji, Los Angeles. Dokuro Osho has joined our practice at DBZ.
