This Anniversary/Jukai Sesshin commemorates the founding of the Zen Center of Syracuse HoenJi 52 years ago in a small room on the Syracuse University campus. After a series of temporary spaces, the Sangha met in Shinge Roshi’s attic for 12 years, and then moved to its current six-acre home in 1996. She was installed as abbot on Oct. 18 of that year.
Also at this sesshin Shinge Roshi's jukai students will take the precepts in a special ceremony on Sunday. Read more »

Hokuto Osho will offer teisho and dokusan at this in-person and online commemoration of the first Rinzai Zen master to bring the teachings of the Buddha-Dharma to the West. Soen Shaku's disciples included D. T. Suzuki and Nyogen Senzaki.
Shinge Roshi leads us in this special weekend sesshin commemorating the founding of our temple 55 years ago.
New York Zendo Shoboji is one of the first Rinzai Zen practice centers to be established in the United States and continues to offer authentic Rinzai Zen training amid the bustle of daily life in Manhattan.

A student of Soen Shaku Roshi, Senzaki worked tirelessly to share the Dharma even while interned at Heart Mountain during World War II. His deep spiritual friendship with Soen Nakagawa Roshi was an underlying cause for the founding of Dai Bosatsu Zendo. Read more »
