In-Person Dokusan Offered This Sunday

Shinge Roshi will be offering in-person dokusan at Hoen-ji after morning service this Sunday, May 29, for Sangha members who are fully vaccinated with boosters, follow our current Covid protocols (see below), and have no symptoms of any kind of respiratory illness. Masks will be required at all times.

Choka (morning service) begins at 10 a.m. Starting at 11 a.m. we will have two periods of zazen during which Roshi will offer dokusan to those in person at Hoen-ji. We will end at 12:30 p.m.

If you wish to attend in person at Hoen-ji, please email admin@hoenji.org before Saturday, May 28; otherwise please attend online. Dokusan is not being offered to online participants.

Covid Protocol Requirements for in-person indoor sittings at the Zen Center of Syracuse

  1. Proof of full vaccination:  A photo or photocopy of your Covid vaccination card or NY State Excelsior Pass serves as proof. You may email your proof of vaccination, OR arrive at least 10 minutes early to show it to the jisha. You only need to do this once.
  2. Masks: A medical-grade (N95 or KN95) mask, properly fitted and covering your nose and mouth, must be worn at all times when inside. No cloth masks are permitted, unless used in combination with a medical-grade mask.
  3. No symptoms or known exposure: If you have symptoms, are not feeling well, or if you have been exposed to someone infected with Covid, please do not come to the zendo. Symptoms include: fever, headache, cough, breathing difficulties, runny nose, sore throat, and partial or full loss of taste or smell.
