This calligraphy workshop, led by Jia Man, Instructor of Japanese and Chinese and Asian Culture Studies in the Department of Foreign Languages at Le Moyne College, will introduce you to the Asian language of brushwork. Calligraphy characters (kanji) are not only used to convey poetic and Zen sayings, but are a visual art form prized for its grace and structured beauty in China, Korea, and Japan.

Please join us to learn the background and the process of using sumi ink and brushes to create visually pleasing and meaningful artworks using Zen Buddhist phrases and Japanese poetry.
